Brick producers switch to circular plastic returnable pallets

Dutch producers of bricks affiliated to the trade association Royal Dutch Building Ceramics (KNB) are taking an important step towards using circular packaging. They do this in cooperation with Circular Plastics and Cabka, supplier and manufacturer of reusable plastic pallets. The switch to plastic returnable pallets for bricks generates significantly less waste and reduces the carbon footprint.

Circularity, reducing waste and lowering the carbon footprint are important priority areas of the building-ceramic industry. This is why the brick manufacturers united in KNB are taking the initiative to switch from disposable wooden pallets to returnable pallets made from 100% plastic waste. The initiative fits seamlessly with the sustainability ambitions of the ceramic sector and is part of the Technology Roadmap Building Ceramics 2030. The brick manufacturers, Circular Plastics and Cabka are jointly working to make the plastic return pallets for bricks ready for the market.

Brick manufacturers took the initiative to investigate the feasibility of reusable returnable pallets for bricks. From this, a universally applicable plastic solution has emerged as an alternative to the traditional wooden HULO pallet measuring 1140 mm (L) x 420 mm (W). To prove the effectiveness of the pallets and their return in real life operations, pilot projects will commence in the construction industry with the cooperation of building material dealers and four contractors. This will be followed by the market roll-out. The nestable plastic pallets take up less space, last 10 to 20 times longer and serve as raw material for a new pallet after their full lifespan.

Transformation matters: Rebranding Cabka

From now on, CABKA _ IPS will become purely Cabka . This simplification seems not to be breaking news at first glance, but it stands for the corporate DNA : constant transformation serves as the basis for progress and development. What has always driven Cabka in the development of its products is now becoming prominent in the company ́s brand as well.

New logo, new colors, new appearance–from now on, the entire group of companies will appear uniformly as Cabka and under the tagline "Transformation matters". For Cabka, transformation is obvious, as the company has been turning plastic waste into clever transport solutions for many years. But there is much more.

The transformation towards simplicity and usability underlines Cabka's innovative and sustainable brand core. This rebranding makes it easier for existing and potential customers and partners and moreover the new look is also intended to support the company in the best possible way in achieving their goals:"Our vision is a world where supply chains don't just move things, but rather change things fundamentally and have a positive impact–both for our customers and for the environment," explains Tim Litjens, Managing Director of Cabka Group GmbH, stressing the company's vision: "We want to become the world's leading developer and manufacturer of reusable transport packaging made from recycled plastic." All these products that are thus becoming even more central to Cabka's focus, such as foldable large load carriers and plastic pallets. Their form and function follow closely to the concept of transformation–one of the key points of the company's DNA.

Transformation as the be-all and end-all

"Transformation is at the heart of our company. On the one hand, we see it as the basis for further development and progress. If you don't change, you stand still, "Litjens elaborates". On the other hand, the term illustrates our approach to circularity . Because Cabka transforms plastic waste into valuable high-end products that can alternate entire supply chains through the material used and their clever design." The nestable pallet made of recycled plastic developed by Cabka is a perfect example . "When we introduced it, the market didn't know anything like it, and was smiled at in the beginning by our competitors ", recalls Cabka founder Gat Ramon.

But it quickly became apparent that it offered major advantages over the wooden pallet: It can be easily stacked inside each other and thus requires less space for storage and transport. It is also very lightweight, making it easier to use and reduces CO 2 emissions when delivering goods. "It has now become a standard in the food retail logistics chain," Ramon is pleased to say. "I would like to see Cabka maintain this drive for transformation and provide even more sustainable transportation solutions to our customers with a dedicated, diverse and international team."

In order to continue to transform the market with pioneering products and further expand its know-how and expertise in materials research and development, product design and recycling , Cabka opened its Innovation Center in Valencia, Spain, in 2018. Here, 40 employees are working on continuous transformation. True to its motto: Transformation matters!

Based on the cookies, it is possible to identify which of our offers you have viewed and subsequently used. Google provides us with statistical evaluations that show which parameters of the Google Ads placed are working and where there is a need for optimization.

With Google Ads Remarketing, we analyze your usage behavior on our website, such as which of our offers you were interested in. Facebook Pixel Conversion Tracking, Website Custom Audience, Retargeting

We use the analytics tool Facebook Pixel, of Facebook Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland (“Facebook”). Facebook Pixel uses JavaScript code and cookies to track the effectiveness of Facebook ads (“conversion tracking”), create target groups for future Facebook ads (“Website Custom Audiences”) and retarget users later (“retargeting”). If you click on a Facebook ad, Facebook stores cookies on your end device. Based on the cookies, it is possible to recognize which of our offers you have viewed and subsequently used. By integrating the Facebook pixel, Facebook receives the information that you have called up the corresponding web page of our website or clicked on an ad of ours. If you are registered with a Facebook service, Facebook can assign the visit to your account. Facebook provides us with statistical evaluations that show which parameters of the placed Facebook ads work and where there is a need for optimization. Based on the Facebook pixel, we also create target groups (“Website Custom Audiences”) in order to display Facebook ads only to those users who show interest in our offers or similar offers. Based on this data, Facebook can then play the respective Facebook ads only to those users who fall into the aforementioned target group. In doing so, we also use the option to address you again later with suitable advertising (“retargeting”).

We use conversion tracking to determine how effectively clicks on Facebook ads lead to specific activities on our website, such as purchases, registrations, or form completions. We use Website Custom Audiences and retargeting to efficiently target users or user groups who have already interacted with our website or offers. The legal basis for the use of Facebook Pixel is your consent pursuant to Art. 6 (1) a) GDPR.

For some of the data processing carried out in connection with Facebook Pixel, we are jointly responsible with Facebook within the meaning of Art. 26 GDPR. The joint responsibility includes the collection of such personal data (“Event Data”, https://www.facebook.com/legal/terms/businesstools_jointprocessing) by means of Facebook Pixel and its subsequent transfer to Facebook to be used for purposes of (i) displaying relevant advertising based on user interests, (ii) delivering commercial and transactional messages, and (iii) improving ad delivery and personalizing features and content. Facebook remains the sole controller of any processing of this data after it is transferred to Facebook. To this end, we have entered into an agreement with Facebook (“Controller Addendum,” https://www.facebook.com/legal/controller_addendum) that sets forth our respective responsibilities for fulfilling our obligations under the GDPR with respect to joint processing. Thereafter, we are responsible for providing information regarding the joint processing of personal data. Facebook is responsible for enabling the rights of data subjects under Art. 15-20 GDPR with respect to personal data stored by Facebook after joint processing. The contact details of the data controller as well as the data protection officer of Facebook are available here: https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy.

In addition to the processing of the above data by Facebook, we transfer the collected data to external service providers (e.g., platform, hosting, support, and analytics service providers) for processing in accordance with the above purposes (implementation of and support for targeted advertising and analysis of the effect and efficiency of this advertising).

In cases where personal data is transferred from Facebook to Facebook Inc, 1 Hacker Way, Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA, these transfers are subject to the standard contractual clauses pursuant to Art. 46 GDPR. The Facebook EU Data Transfer Addendum referencing the standard contractual clauses is available here: https://www.facebook.com/legal/EU_data_transfer_addendum.

You can prevent the use of the above tracking methods by (i) setting your browser software accordingly, (ii) as a Facebook user by deactivating the “Custom Audience” function at the following link: https://www.facebook.com/settings/?tab=ads#, (iii) by deactivating the interest-based ads of the providers via the link http://www.aboutads.info/choices or (iv) by your cookie settings on our website.

The collected personal data will be deleted as soon as they are no longer needed for the processing purposes, which is regularly the case after 6 months from the collection of the data.

LinkedIn Ads Conversion and Remarketing

We use the advertising system LinkedIn Ads, of LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company, Wilton Place, Dublin 2, Ireland (“LinkedIn”), to draw attention to our offer with the help of advertisements (so-called LinkedIn Ads) on LinkedIn. LinkedIn is responsible for the delivery of LinkedIn Ads and the associated data processing. Further information on LinkedIn Ads can be found at: https://business.linkedin.com/de-de/marketing-solutions/ads and https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/a421454.

If you click on a LinkedIn ad, LinkedIn stores cookies on your end device and collects data about visits to our website, including URL, referrer URL, IP address, device and browser properties, timestamp as far as demographic data from LinkedIn if you are an active LinkedIn user. IP addresses are shortened or (if used to reach members across devices) hashed. Members’ direct identifiers are removed within seven days to pseudonymize the data. This remaining pseudonymized data is then deleted within 180 days. LinkedIn does not share any personal data with us, but only provides reports and notifications (in which you are not identified) about website audience and ad performance. Based on the cookies, it is possible to identify which of our offers you have viewed and subsequently used.

We also use LinkedIn Ads Remarketing. This involves the targeted delivery of our LinkedIn ads on LinkedIn when these users or user groups visit LinkedIn. With LinkedIn Ads Remarketing, we analyze your usage behavior on our website, such as which of our offers you were interested in. Based on this, you can be shown targeted advertising on LinkedIn even after you have left our website. This makes it possible to recognize and analyze which of our offers you are interested in.

We use conversion tracking to determine how effectively clicks on LinkedIn ads lead to certain activities on our website, such as purchases, registrations or filling out forms. The legal basis for the use of LinkedIn Ads Conversion is your consent according to Art. 6 (1) a) GDPR.

In addition to the processing of the above data by LinkedIn, we transfer the collected data to external service providers (e.g. platform, hosting, support and analytics service providers) for processing in accordance with the above purposes (implementation and support of targeted advertising and analysis of the effect and efficiency of this advertising). In cases where personal data is transferred from LinkedIn to LinkedIn Corporation, 2029 Stierlin Court, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA, these transfers are subject to the standard contractual clauses pursuant to Art. 46 GDPR. The LinkedIn Data Processing Agreement with reference to the standard contractual clauses is available here: https://www.linkedin.com/legal/l/dpa.

You can prevent the use of the above tracking methods by (i) setting your browser software accordingly, (ii) as a user of LinkedIn via the settings at https://www.linkedin.com/psettings/enhanced-advertising, (iii) by deactivating the providers’ interest-based ads via the link http://www.aboutads.info/choices, (iv) by deactivating retargeting at https://www.linkedin.com/psettings/guest-controls/retargeting-opt-out or (v) by your cookie settings on our website.

The personal data collected will be deleted as soon as they are no longer needed for the processing purposes, which is regularly the case after 6 months from the collection of the data.

This includes in particular name, date of birth, contact data, interests, qualification data as well as educational and professional background. The personal data collected from you will only be used for the purpose of carrying out the application process. The legal bases are Art. 6 (1) a), b) and f) GDPR, § 26 BDSG.

You are not obliged to provide the aforementioned personal data. The data provided may be required for a future conclusion of a contract after completion of the application process. Without the provision of the data, communication, the implementation of the application process or a contract conclusion may not be possible.

A transmission of the data relevant in the respective individual case takes place on the basis of the legal provisions or a contractual agreement. Data is transferred to employees of the personnel department, employees of the management and the respective head of department. In the case of an online application, your data will be passed on to the provider of the online application system REXX (rexx systems GmbH, Suederstrasse 75-79, 20097 Hamburg) commissioned by us. There is no intention to transfer your data to a recipient in a third country (not a member state of the EU / EEA) or an international organization.

The data will be deleted as soon as it is no longer required to achieve the purpose for which it was collected. Therefore, once the application process has been carried out, we retain your data for six months after you have been notified of the rejection decision in the event of a rejection. If you have consented to longer storage, the storage period is regularly two years. After that, we will either delete your data or obtain your consent again. You have the option to revoke your consent to the processing of personal data at any time.

Newsletter

With your consent, you can subscribe to our newsletter, with which we inform you about our offers. The advertised goods and services are named in the declaration of consent.

For the registration to our newsletter we use the so-called double opt-in procedure. This means that after your registration we will send you an e-mail to the specified e-mail address in which we ask you to confirm that you wish to receive the newsletter. If you do not confirm your registration within [24 hours], your information will be blocked and automatically deleted after one month. In addition, we store your respective IP addresses used and times of registration and confirmation. The purpose of the procedure is to be able to prove your registration and, if necessary, to clarify a possible misuse of your personal data. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) a) and c), Art. 7 (1), Art. 5 (2) GDPR.

Mandatory data for sending the newsletter is only your e-mail address, which is marked separately. The provision of further data is voluntary and will be used to address you personally. After your confirmation, we store your specified data for the purpose of sending the newsletter. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) a) GDPR. The data will be deleted as soon as they are no longer required to achieve the purpose for which they were collected. Accordingly, the user’s email address will be stored as long as the subscription to the newsletter is active. We may store inactive e-mail addresses for up to three years in order to prove consent previously given and to be able to defend against possible claims. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) c), Art. 5 (2) GDPR.

You can revoke your consent to the sending of the newsletter and personal evaluation of your usage behavior (performance measurement) at any time and unsubscribe from the newsletter. You can declare the revocation by clicking on the link provided in every newsletter email or by sending a message to the contact details provided in the imprint.

The newsletter is sent by Hubspot, an email marketing service of HubSpot Germany GmbH, c/o HubSpot Ireland Limited, HubSpot House, One Sir John Rogerson’s Quay, Dublin 2, Ireland (“HubSpot”). Your email address as well as your other data mentioned in these instructions for receiving the newsletter will be stored on Hubspot’s servers. Hubspot uses this information to send and measure the success of the newsletter on our behalf. The use of Hubspot is based on our legitimate interests pursuant to Art. 6 (1) f) GDPR. Our interest is directed towards the use of a user-friendly as well as secure newsletter system that serves both our business interests and meets the expectations of users. In cases where personal data is transferred from HubSpot to HubSpot, Inc., 25 First Street, 2nd Floor, Cambridge, MA 02141, USA, these transfers are subject to the standard contractual clauses pursuant to Art. 46 GDPR. These are available here: https://legal.hubspot.com/dpa.

Our newsletters contain so-called web beacons, i.e. a pixel-sized file that is retrieved from the Hubspot server when the newsletter is opened. As part of this retrieval, technical information, such as data on the browser and your system, as well as your IP address and the time of the retrieval are collected, which serve to technically improve the services based on the technical data or the target groups and their reading behavior. In addition, your usage behavior is evaluated to determine whether the newsletters were opened, when they were opened and which links were clicked. The evaluations are used to recognize the reading habits of our users and to adapt our content to them or to be able to offer different content according to the individual interests of our users. This performance measurement is included in the consent pursuant to Art. 6 (1) a) GDPR to send the newsletter. A revocation can therefore only be made together with the consent to send the newsletter.

Use of Microsoft Teams

To conduct video conferences and online meetings (“online meetings”), we use the “Microsoft Teams” service of Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited, The Atrium Building, Block B, Carmanhall Road, Sandyford Business Estate, Dublin 18, Ireland (“Teams”). The legal basis for data processing when conducting “online meetings” is Art. 6 (1) b) GDPR, insofar as these are conducted in the context of contractual relationships. Insofar as personal data is processed by our employees, Section 26 BDSG is the legal basis. If no contractual relationship exists or no processing is required for the establishment, implementation or termination of the employment relationship, the legal basis is Art. 6 (1) f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest in these cases is the effective implementation of “online meetings”.

Various types of data are processed when using “Teams”. The scope of the data also depends on the data you provide before or during participation in an “online meeting”. If we want to record “online meetings”, we will inform you transparently in advance and – if necessary – ask for your consent. That a recording is taking place will also be indicated to you in the “Teams” app. If it is necessary for the purposes of logging the results of an online meeting, we will log the chat content. However, this will not usually be the case. In the case of webinars, we may also process questions asked by webinar participants for purposes of recording and following up on webinars. If you are registered as a user with “Teams”, then reports of “online meetings” (meeting metadata, telephone dial-in data, questions and answers in webinars, survey function in webinars) may be stored by “Teams” for up to one month. The following personal data are subject to processing: User details (first name, last name, phone (optional), email address, password (if “single sign-on” is not used), profile picture (optional), department (optional)), meeting metadata (topic, description (optional), participant IP addresses, device/hardware information), Recording data (optional) (MP4 file of all video, audio and presentation recordings, M4A file of all audio recordings, text file of the online meeting chat) when dialing in with the telephone data (information on incoming and outgoing call number, country name, start and end time. If necessary, further connection data such as the IP address of the device may be stored) and text, audio and video data. You may have the opportunity to use the chat, question or survey functions in an “online meeting”. To this extent, the text entries you make are processed in order to display them in the “online meeting” and, if necessary, to log them. To enable the display of video and the playback of audio, the data from the microphone of your terminal device and from any video camera of the terminal device will be processed accordingly for the duration of the meeting. You can turn off or mute the camera or microphone yourself at any time via the “Teams” applications. In order to participate in an “Online Meeting” or to enter the “Meeting Room”, you must at least provide information about your name.

Personal data processed in connection with participation in “online meetings” will generally not be disclosed to third parties unless it is intended for disclosure. Please note that the content of “online meetings”, as well as personal meetings, is often used to communicate information with customers, interested parties or third parties and is therefore intended to be passed on. In addition to Microsoft’s processing of the above data, we transfer the collected data to external service providers (e.g., platform, hosting, support, and analytics service providers) for processing in accordance with the purposes set forth above (to assist in providing and conducting “online meetings”).

In cases where personal data is transferred from Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited to Microsoft Corporation, One Microsoft Way, Redmond, WA 98052-6399, USA, these transfers are subject to the standard contractual clauses pursuant to Art. 46 GDPR. The Microsoft Products and Services Data Protection Addendum (DPA) referencing the standard contractual clauses is available here: https://www.aka.ms/dpa

We generally delete personal data when there is no need for further storage. A requirement may exist in particular if the data is still needed to fulfill contractual services, to check and grant or defend against warranty and, if applicable, guarantee claims. In the case of statutory retention obligations, deletion will only be considered after expiry of the respective retention obligation.

Social Media

We also process your personal data when you visit us on our social media accounts. We maintain these social media accounts primarily to communicate with customers, interested parties and users, to increase our brand awareness and to promote our products and services. The respective provider stores the data collected about you as usage profiles and uses them for the purposes of advertising, market research, and/or demand-oriented design of its network. Such an evaluation is carried out in particular (also for non-logged-in users) for the display of needs-based advertising. For the respective data processing purposes and data categories, we refer to the individual social media accounts, which are explained in more detail below.

The legal basis for the use of these social media accounts is Art. 6 (1) f) GDPR, as we have a legitimate interest in communicating and informing customers and interested parties via these accounts. Insofar as you wish to enter into a contractual relationship with us with your request, the legal basis for this processing is Art. 6 (1) b) GDPR.

In addition to the processing of the above-mentioned data by the respective providers, we transfer the collected data to external service providers (e.g. platform, hosting, support and analysis service providers) for processing in accordance with the above-mentioned purposes (implementation and support of communication and information as well as advertising).

The collected personal data will be deleted as soon as they are no longer needed for the processing purposes.

Who we are

About Cabka

Cabka specializes in pallets and large containers made from recycled plastic, but our mission is much larger than that. We believe that transformation matters, and we want our sustainable products to enable a better future.

Our Values

At Cabka, our goal isn’t to just move things. We want to transform them for the better. We enable breakthrough innovation at the supply chain’s most vital points and beyond with clever, sustainable solutions for load carriers.

That transformation is at the heart of our work because we see opportunity in waste: We combine smart design with creative engineering, always finding ways to get the most out of our products before repurposing them at the end of their lifespans.

We understand that resources are finite, but possibilities are endless with bold thinking. That means we never back down from a challenge, because every challenge is just an opportunity for positive change for the industry, for the environment, and for the people living in it.

We know that progress is only progress when it’s for everyone. So let’s create a future that makes us all proud.

A Long History of Pioneering

Recycling has been part of Cabka’s DNA for more than 25 years, but that was just the beginning for us. Today, we don’t just transform plastic, we transform our customers’ supply-chain processes, optimizing them for efficiency, safety, sustainability, and ease of use. We are proud to be the home of a corporate family with more than 150 years of experience in innovation and smart design.

1994

Founder Gat Ramon establishes the company today known as Cabka in Weira, Thuringia, Germany. With the development of new technology for processing plastic, we establish ourselves as a pioneer in the recycling of post-consumer and post-industrial mixed-plastic waste.

1998

Cabka designs and produces the first lightweight, nestable plastic pallets made from recycled materials, which we begin selling on the international market.

2005

In response to the high demand for Cabka products, we break ground in the United States, opening our first full – service recycling and production plant near St. Louis, Missouri

2008

Cabka continues our expansion by opening a sales office and production facilities in Valencia, Spain.

2012

We merge with Innova Packaging systems to become the Cabka Group, offering the world’s most comprehensive portfolio of pallets and large containers made from recycled plastic.

2015

The Cabka Group acquires Belgian plastic pallet company Eryplast.

2018

Cabka opens a state of the art Innovation Center in Valencia, Spain, to drive technological developments in New Material Formulations, Innovative Processing Technologies, and Recycle Based Product Design.

2022

Cabka becomes a listed company. This provides increased visibility and financial flexibility to enhance growth. Through the business combination with Dutch Star Companies TWO, Cabka has been listed on Euronext Amsterdam since March 1, 2022.

Our values

A commitment to sustainability

At Cabka, the need for sustainability has driven our innovation and growth, and it has solved numerous logistic and environmental challenges for our growing roster of clients. There was a time when sustainability and corporate growth conflicted with each other, but the world has changed. Companies have to work sustainably, not just because it's the right thing to do, but also because customers expect it. Sustainability has been integral to Cabka for more than 25 years, going back to when we pioneered a way to process recycled plastics. It continues today on multiple levels. We make many of our pallets and large containers from recycled materials, and their low weight, nestability, or foldability enhances the sustainability of the systems using them. They also save resources and reduce waste because they're durable and seldom need to be repaired or replaced. We make sustainability work for business, society, and the planet.

Never settling for “good enough”

At Cabka, innovation goes beyond simply creating new products. We seek to transform entire systems and overcome thinking that stops at “good enough.” Innovation has been an integral part of our work since we pioneered technology for processing recycled plastic more than 25 years ago. We saw that we could transform waste into high-quality products and we realized we could do far better than “good enough” for pallets and, later, large containers.

These days we offer a huge portfolio of durable, reliable, and sustainable plastic pallets and large containers, all fully recyclable and many made from recycled plastic themselves. At the Cabka Innovation Center in Valencia, Spain, our product development, material development, and processing and automation teams work together to craft new and inventive ways to work.

Sustainability

Two-plus decades, one goal: Sustainability

From day one, we’ve been reusing and recycling our products and the plastics that make them. Even as we’ve grown, our priority remains the same: sustainability for all.

Sustainability Mission Statement

Cabka’s power is transformation because we know that while resources are limited, possibilities are endless. Innovation in transforming used plastics into new products is at the heart of our business. Everything we do is with sustainability in mind. Balancing circularity, Greenhouse Gases (GHG) impact, and the use of and impact on the worlds’ resources through our business model is a challenge we are ready to accept and which we want to measure our performance against.

Cabka wants to change established processes and systems to make them more efficient and sustainable for us as well as for future generations.

Our colleagues are our best asset in pursuing our mission. They rely on a positive work environment, where everyone is treated with respect and openness and where we strive for continuous improvement in occupational health & safety. We understand diversity as an accelerator for growth and driver of innovation.

Just as we regularly engage with our customers and suppliers to identify new opportunities for plastic waste transformation and their best utilization in sustainable supply chains, we continuously exchange with our stakeholders to help us prioritize and advance on material sustainability topics.

Cabka

Transformation Matters.

ESG as Our Core Product

From day one, Cabka has been reusing and recycling our products and the plastics that make them. Even as we’ve grown, our priority remains the same: sustainability for all. Cabka’s roots lie in recycling, so we never believed that sustainability and prosperity must be mutually exclusive. Long before sustainability became a buzzword, it was central to how we operated. Three decades later, that remains the case, even as Cabka has grown into the market-leading manufacturer of recycled plastic pallets, large containers and expert in logistics efficiency that it is today.

The majority of Cabka’s products are made from recycled plastics, are designed to be used again and again, and are 100% recyclable at the end of their life. This keeps waste out of landfills and incineration, averting both unwanted costs and unwanted environmental impacts.

Cabka unites an international workforce, bringing together a diverse, cross-continental team of around 700 employees speaking 15 different languages, all united by the purpose of creating a more responsible and sustainable future for everyone.

ESG Commitment

Cabka has a set of policies stating its commitments in the area of Environment, Health & Safety, Human Rights, Suppliers, Diversity and Business Ethics. See the Principles & Policies section for all Policies.

After Cabka got listed on the Dutch stock market in early 2022, Cabka’s Management Team initiated the development of an ESG framework which is to comprise a comprehensive set of key commitments across all the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) dimensions.

Materiality Assessment

The basis of Cabka’s ESG-strategy is a materiality assessment conducted in 2022 to determine which sustainability issues are most relevant to Cabka’s business operations and stakeholders. In this process, three perspectives were analyzed to ensure that focus remains on those areas that have the greatest impact:

• Significance of ESG topics on the enterprise value of Cabka

• Significance of impacts Cabka has on people and the environment

• Importance of different ESG topics to our stakeholders

This double materiality assessment was supported by PwC Netherlands, involving Cabka’s main stakeholder groups and led to the definition of eight material topics:

• 3 Strategic topics: Circular Economy, Occupational Health & Safety, Product Quality & Innovation

• 5 Foundational topics: Climate Change & Energy, Supplier Environmental Assessment, Business Ethics, ESG Management and Diversity & Inclusion.

Ambition Levels

As part of the ESG Framework project, base ambition levels were agreed upon with the full management team in June 2022. Cabka aims to enable breakthrough all over the supply chain, with continuous innovation of smart reusable solutions for transport packaging with a focus on quality in the product process and circularity as the core element.

Cabka’s Ambitions on core environmental topics:

• Lead the circular economy transition by continuously raising the bar around material use, manufacturing and move towards 100% recycled product input.

• Support the Paris Agreement by setting a near term Science Based Target and moving towards Net Zero for the entire value chain by 2050.

• Take responsibility for our environmental impacts beyond our direct operations through engagement with our suppliers on their environmental performance.

Cabka’s Social Ambitions:

• Ensure a diverse and inclusive workplace to help drive business growth through balanced decision making and ensure equal opportunities within Cabka

• Working towards Zero Harm and Zero Accidents by fostering a healthy and safe working environment, people engagement and integrating health and safety into our culture, with annual improvements on the related indicators

ESG Management Structure

The management of ESG is implemented in a hybrid (central and decentral) structure in the organization. Senior management in the company is directly involved in the aspects identified as material by the Group as a result of the materiality analysis. This is to ensure that ESG management fits our organization and delivers on our priorities.

Keeping Plastics in the Loop

Cabka is striving to be the circularity leader in the industry.

Waste reduction and reutilization while lowering environmental costs are at the core of our recycling facilities in Europe and the US. Over the years we have established true circularity models as we use clients’ waste as input for our production process. Having 30 years of experience in plastics recycling, Cabka is a valued partner for customers, whose corporate agendas are shifting towards circular business models.

In 2023, Cabka processed 140 kilotons of hard-to-recycle plastic waste and other recycled plastic to create new products, making up 89% of our total raw material intake. Over 60% of that waste was recycled in-house. Our products are not only focused on the recycled content, but also on durability, reusability, and recyclability. Advanced inhouse material engineering, tailored product design and advanced processing technology are the foundation that forms our leadership.

We have proven that profitability and sustainability can fit together: we recycle, create new products, and then recycle them again after they reach the end of their life. This way, we retain the highest utility and value of products, close the loop, reduce waste, conserve natural resources, cut greenhouse gas emissions and limit the plastic waste polluting our environment.

Our inhouse Life Cycle Analysis and Total Cost of Ownership Tools illustrate our efforts to continuously analyze economic and environmental impacts of our products. Over the past years we have worked with numerous customers with our specialized LifeCycle Analysis tool that calculates CO₂ emission, impact on human health, impact on ecosystem diversity, and impact on resource availability. Every product and use case are different, which is why we gather customized data on individual transport systems’ environmental impacts to be able to work with our partners on finding the best solution for meeting present and future sustainability goals.

ISO Certifications

Cabka operates strictly following ISO-standards. ISO certification certifies that a management system, manufacturing process, service, or documentation procedure has all the requirements for standardization and quality assurance. ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is an independent, non-governmental, international organization that develops standards to ensure the quality, safety, and efficiency of products, services, and systems.

ISO-9001 - the international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system. Cabka uses this standard to demonstrate the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements. All Cakba’s main production plants are in possession of this ISO- Standard.

ISO-50001 – an ISO standard which specifies requirements related to energy consumption and shows that an organization guards their energy consumption. For example Cabka’s plant in Weira automatically monitors its energy consumption and switches systems off for efficiency reasons. The standard looks at efficiency, but not at zero reduction. Cabka Weira is in possession of this ISO-standard. Cabka is investigating whether this specific standard should be applied to the other locations.

ISO-14001 – an ISO standard that specifies the requirements for an environmental management system that an organization can use to enhance its environmental performance. The norm helps an organization achieve the intended outcomes of its environmental management system, which provide value for the environment and the organization itself. The intended outcomes of an environmental management system include the enhancement of environmental performance, the fulfilment of compliance obligations and the achievement of environmental objectives. Cabka’s production site in Weira is ISO 14001 certified since 2022. Other production locations are also working towards this standard.

ISO-45001 – an ISO standard which specifies requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system to enable organizations to provide safe and healthy workplaces by preventing work-related injury and ill health, as well as by proactively improving its OH&S performance by eliminating hazards and minimize OH&S risks (including system deficiencies), taking advantage of OH&S opportunities, and addressing OH&S management system nonconformities associated with its activities. The Cabka production site in Weira was ISO 45001 certified in 2022.

Track and Trace: traceability service for logistics, RFID and IoT

Track & Trace

It's time to get smart. Our logistics systems extend well beyond pallets and containers. In fact, some of our longest-running partnerships are with customers who take advantage of our track-and-trace hardware, software, and data packages.

Location data is just the start

Our track-and-trace systems help our partners in Pharmaceuticals, Food, Retail, and Pooling do more than simply monitor their shipments. Once analyzed, the data track and trace gathers helps them to shape the future of their logistics.

Cabka offers customized solutions for every need, but for every order, quality control remains uniformly high. Whether pallets are on the move, or being stored, it’s quick and easy to determine exactly where they are.

Radio-frequency identification tags automatically identify and track our customers’ pallets throughout their journey. Battery-powered GPS locators provide even more information. In addition to exact location in real time, they allow for precise temperature monitoring. Each GPS unit features an accelerometer that sends an alert if a pallet has collided with anything. Long battery life ensures that you can keep tabs on conditions even during long journeys.

Process

We offer yearly, monthly, or quarterly packages. We supply the pallet or container, tracking device included. Our partners pay only for the platform and access to the data and analytics. These long-term traceability partnerships offer efficiency now, and the hard data to make the right decisions for your business in the future.

Customized solutions

Looking for something specific? We offer reliable, cost-efficient supply chain and logistics solutions designed just for you that reduce your costs and carbon footprint.

Getting it right

First and foremost, we work collectively with your business to meet your unique operational needs — and we take care to ensure that the time and effort you invest in creating a solution with us is worth your while.

Our development process has five comprehensive steps: a feasibility study, the proposal stage, product prototyping, custom mold construction, and finally, implementation into the supply chain. We never outsource these stage gates or the associated testing phases, and each builds on the preceding step to ensure quality when the product is delivered.

Process

The process has proven successful; many of the products we developed jointly with customers have ended up becoming industry standards. Among them: many Beverage and Pooling pallets (the Keg S9, BPP i9, Endur i7.2, Heilbronner H7, and the Retail series), the Sam S3 (a nestable skid pallet developed for transporting and storing extra - large packages), and the CabCube 1.0 (a lightweight, three - piece packable container optimized for the transportation of larg e - volume parts). They keep delivering, too: The CabCube has proven so successful that we continue to release new versions, and the Heilbronner H7 has made wooden Düsseldorf pallets essentially obsolete.

So send us your challenge — big or small, across any industry — and we can collaborate on a customized solution to handle it.

Our mission

A commitment to sustainability

Sustainability and growth needn’t be mutually exclusive. We’ve found a way to unite them.

Life cycle and carbon footprint analysis

CO₂ Footprint

For a smaller footprint. Transparency about a company’s carbon footprint is not only important for consumers, but for stakeholders too.

Seeing the whole picture

With our long history of working with logistics systems that span the whole product life cycle, we’ve developed a keen understanding of the long-term environmental effects one single product can have, on micro and macro levels.

We’ve already partnered with numerous market leaders to optimize the sustainability of their logistics chains, and we can help your business do the same. We do that not just by supplying products, but also by providing value-added services related to them.

Process

Our data service, offered for all Cabka material handling solutions regardless of industry, utilizes a specialized LifeCycle Analysis tool that calculates CO₂ emission, impact on human health, impact on ecosystem diversity, and impact on resource availability. Depending on your needs, we can scale the assessment from production to full product lifecycle. The data is easy to understand, highly customized, and ready for implementation.

Once we gather the customized data on your transport systems’ environmental impact, we can work with you to fin d the best plan for meeting your present — and future — sustainability goals.

Case study of plastic pallets in the mining industry

Mining Industry

There’s only one place in the world to find an important ingredient for rubber, plastics, dye, paint, varnish, and even nutritional supplements: the mines near Neuburg, Germany. When you extract 200,000 tons of it every year, you need to use the right load carriers.

A whole lot of powder

Hoffmann Mineral GmbH exclusively mines, treats, and distributes Neuburg Siliceous Earth worldwide. Every day, its facility ships out more than 200 tons of fine white powder in 25 kg sacks or 1,200 kg big bags.

The system is fully automated and ends in high-rack storage, so Hoffmann Mineral needs pallets that work seamlessly in automated systems, are easily rackable, and can handle heavy loads.

Industry need, Cabka solution

The Cabka Eco E7 fits the bill for a variety of reasons.

● Stability: Hoffmann Mineral’s warehouse is tough on pallets. The Eco E7 can handle stressful conditions that arise during racking and moving to the shipping container.

● Automation readiness: In an entirely automated system, you need a pallet that moves smoothly and doesn’t cause problems. The Eco E7 sails through Hoffmann Mineral’s systems and into their high-bay racks without issue.

● Ready for the heavy: With a capacity of 5,000 kg static, 2,500 kg dynamic, and 1,000 kg racking, the Eco E7 can handle all of those sacks of Neuburg Siliceous Earth.

More than justifying itself

While the Eco E7 is a portfolio product for Cabka, it behaves as if we specially designed it for Hoffmann Mineral. Altho ugh the company still uses some wooden pallets, the Eco E7 makes a strong case for going fully plastic.

“[It’s] not just a question of cost, but also justified by issues such as punctuality and reliability of delivery, even when there is extra short-term demand,” explains Shipping Manager Harald Zitzelsberger.

“The Eco E7 is extremely stable. For example, when our pallets are slid into the shipping container, that is already a lot of stress. Besides this, the pallets run easily through our automated system, and even loading into the fully automated high rack is trouble-free.”

Case study of plastic pallets in the meat processing industry

Meat-Processing Industry

Once a pallet travels a certain distance, its return is simply no longer cost-effective. The vast distances and logistic hurdles standing between it and its point of origin require an alternative to reusability.

Great distances, many deeds

The shipping requirements of the meat-processing industry often call for the use of export pallets, which will not be returned. So they must be inexpensive. But that low cost must always go hand-in-hand with total safety. HAACP guidelines on food-security monitoring must be met. But hygiene isn’t the only factor customers must consider when choosing export pallets.

These pallets must be easy and economical to procure. They must be delivered on time. They must meet low floor-space requirements in storage. They must remain secure and withstand ever-present cold storage and warehousing. They must handle heavy loads, and offer complete reliability along lengthy, worldwide shipping routes.

Industry need, Cabka solution

At the intersection of low cost, high food - safety standards, and easy integration into the production and packaging process sits the Cabka Nest E5 model (OD-9F).

● Hygiene: Made of PE recycled material that fulfills hygienic requirements.

● Smaller footprint: Nestability means less occupied space for lower transportation and storage costs

● Less labor: From point of packaging to final delivery, no repacking is necessary with the E5

● Low investment: Wooden pallets are subject to the strict, often cost-prohibitive standards of the ISPM 15. Our plastic pallets are not.

Checking all the boxes

Our partners in Meat Processing have seen success with this versatile plastic pallet. Even with all of these benefits and reasons to believe, the Cabka Nest E5 pallet offers an incredible return on investment, a low-cost solution in such a logistically challenging industry.

Case study of plastic pallets in the dairy industry

Dairy Industry

Milk powder, used primarily as a base ingredient in the making of baby food, is a vital export product. Sold primarily in Asia and Africa, this is a sensitive food that requires particular care when manufactured and handled. Maintaining hygiene is of the utmost importance.

A big operation

Dutch pallet retailer S&K Swieringa Kunststof supplies dairy company Royal FrieslandCampina with Cabka’s durable Endur i9 plastic pallet to use in its milk-powder production. S&K is also responsible for cleaning the pallets in accordance with the strictest hygiene standards. This is a high-volume enterprise, with 30,000 pallets constantly in circulation and 6,000 sent out for thorough cleaning every month.

Industry need, Cabka solution

● Hygiene: Not only is the Endur i9 easy to clean and reuse, it is resistant to insect, bacterial, and fungal attacks.

● Organization: The Endur i9’s load capacity and durability makes it advantageous for use in high-bay racks. It’s available in different colors to make sorting products and lifecycle phases simple.

● Weight-bearing: This heavy-duty pallet loads up to 1,500 kg in high-bay racks and is manufactured from impact-resistant PP, without metal reinforcement.

● Transport: Suitable for roller and chain conveyors, with anti-slip options available on demand.

The right choice

Both of these industry power players trust Cabka to provide reliable, reusable, and well-designed pallets that meet their acute supply-chain needs. The Endur i9 Plastic Pallet is only one of the many pallet options our dairy-industry partners use.

Case study of plastic pallet boxes in the food industry

Food Storage / Agriculture

When Deprez Handling Solutions needed to further specialize its automated warehouse solutions, the company came to Cabka for the most important part.

A storage challenge

Deprez Handling Solutions in Belgium develops machines for the handling of potatoes, carrots, onions, bulk goods, and recyclable materials. It operates automated box-handling systems that originally used wooden pallet boxes to transport materials. But over the years, customers started asking Deprez for more specialized systems, including intermediate storage for products before they were packed. In order to do that, Deprez needed hygienic, food-safe storage containers with maximum capacity—and they couldn’t be wood.

Industry need, Cabka solution

Company co-founder Johan Deprez developed an automated system to address storage mechanics, but he needed an appropriate container. He found one in the Cabka Pallet Box.

● Ready for food: The Pallet Box is made from food - safe HDPE that resists impacts and chemicals.

● High capacity and stackable: It holds up to 1,400 liters and is built to stack — up to seven safely on top of each other for a stacking load of 7,000 kg.

● Temperature safe: They function in conditions from minus 30 to plus 50 degrees Celsius.

In Deprez’s setup, an optical system sorts potatoes by size, then places them in the Pallet Boxes. Depending on their classification, potatoes are either stored or sent to the packaging line. A special machine automatically empties the boxes, meaning the entire process is automated, from the arrival of the products until they’re shipped out the door

Customer benefits

“Our solution would not exist without the Pallet Box,” Deprez says. Wooden boxes aren’t safe for food—not to mention their weight would be an issue. The Pallet Box weighs only 69 kilograms perforated or 72 kilograms in closed design.

Applications of plastic pallets and containers in retail

universe

Retail

Ask any retailer, and they’ll probably tell you their success is facing unprecedented challenges. It’s never been more important to get logistics right.

A challenging time

In a lot of ways, retailers have never faced more challenges than they do now. Growing labor and shipping costs. Ever-higher customer expectations. Increasingly complex supply chains.

The list goes on, but so do the ways to address these challenges, thanks to innovations in technology, automation, and data analytics.

And pallets. Without them, the system doesn’t work. That’s why it’s critically important to choose the right ones.

Rethinking the retail container

Cabka developed the first lightweight, nestable, multi-trip pallet for the retail industry. While nestable pallets were traditionally used in one-way and export applications, we developed a durable, long-life pallet.

Our popular Retail E5.1 nestable picking pallet, and its successor, the E5.2, have made retail logistics cheaper and more efficient. They help reduce CO2 emissions with their volume-saving designs, high capacity, light weight, and long service life. More than 2 millions of our retail pallets are in use today. Our Heilbronner H7 has made the wooden Düsseldorf pallet obsolete because of its durability and internal RFID transponders for tracking. More than 3 million have been delivered.

No matter the model name, our plastic solutions have much in common. They’re light, ergonomic, and easy for workers to handle, without the splinters, screws, or errant hardware of wooden pallets. They’re hygienic and easy to clean, which is especially important in retail.

Our nestable pallets also take up less space, reducing warehousing and transportation costs. The Retail E5.1 and E5.2 pallets save more than 500 kg of load carrier weight with each delivery to a retailer. Compared to wooden pallets, our nestable Retail pallet has a stunning 62% lower CO2 impact and 0% loss rate.

Doing the right thing environmentally has never been easier or made better business sense. The demands of the retail world may be ever increasing, but with Cabka, businesses can stay ahead of them.

Applications of plastic pallets and containers in the pooling industry

universe

Pooling

No other part of the load-carrier world plays a bigger role in determining the future of logistics than pooling. And the future isn’t wood.

The tastemakers

Pooling companies have a two-fold opportunity in the expanding sphere of global shipping. First, through their choice of pallets and containers, poolers decide what their customers use, and just as important, how they use them. Second, as more industries turn to pooling companies to manage their load-carrier inventories, poolers influence the shipping practices of nearly every industry.

The plastic future

They need durable, hygienic, safe, and sustainable pallet systems. They need low-weight units built for high-volume capacity. They need standardized, nestable pallets and foldable containers and crates that can be used along the entire supply chain.

Fortunately, Cabka does all of that -and more- because the future of pallet pooling lies beyond wood and single-use plastics.

We already supply, or have relationships with, the biggest names in food, retail, automotive and pharma. We offer inspection, repair, and recycling. We provide trackable pallets and tailor-made solutions like our Endur range, our Retail E5.2, and CabCubes.

Our hygienic pallets feature smooth, closed surfaces, reducing the opportunity for dirt buildup and making them easy to clean. Because we pioneered circularity in our products for decades, most of our pallets and large containers are made from recycled materials, and they can be easily repaired, repurposed, or recycled.

Where poolers source their pallets, as well as their rigid and foldable containers, means everything. The need for specialized load carriers is growing across nearly every major industry, as are the needs of poolers’ clients.

For every need or challenge, there is a customized solution that our design and engineering teams can create. We develop them every day at our testing centers, material labs, and recycling facilities. Working with our partners, we identify long-lasting, smart solutions from our range of products.

Pharmaceutical

Few industries work with cargo as valuable or important as the pharmaceutical industry. The stakes are incredibly high for product to arrive on time and unsullied, and there is little room for mistakes.

Familiar challenges, with a twist

The challenges facing the pharmaceutical logistics sector, while not unique, must be solved in a way that’s unique to the industry. In almost any other area, efficiency bordering on corner- cutting is standard, even applauded. That’s not the case in pharmaceuticals, because it can’t be the case. These are invaluable materials. Their timely arrival in good condition can be a matter of life and death.

Special needs

Because pharmaceutical products are incredibly high-value cargo, they require high-quality, durable, and hygienic load-carrying systems. They must be tracked and handled correctly from vehicle to vehicle, facility to facility. Nearly every medication requires speedy, efficient shipping along lengthy supply lines.

Cabka’s hygienic, trackable, RFID-chipped pallets help to ensure that medications arrive on time and in excellent condition. They satisfy global regulations, endure harsh treatment in automated environments, and enable large-scale shipments. Sustainably built and recyclable, our plastic pallets and large containers offer advantages that are not possible with their wooden counterparts.

For instance, the heavy-duty Hygienic E7.3 is made from food-safe HDPE and is fully enclosed, so dirt has nowhere to accumulate. Without any cavities, it’s easily cleaned. On the other end, our Eco E5 is completely open, with ribs allowing for air flowthrough. Although it’s lightweight, it can hold up to 500 kg. In between them is the Endur i7, whose impact-resistant PP is great for semi-hygienic situations and high-rotation usage. All run smoothly along conveyor systems and in automated warehouses, and when they reach the end of their lifespan, they’re easily reabsorbed into our circular economy.

The point is, no matter the needs of the pharma industry, we have a solution. We work with pharmaceutical clients like Merck and Pfizer to deliver systems built to their exact specifications.

The pharmaceutical logistics sector rewards innovation, and we have been innovating for more than 25 years and counting. We understand the unique challenges of the pharmaceuticals industry, and our pallets and containers are designed to surpass them.

Plastic pallets and containers in the meat and poultry industry

universe

Meat & Poultry

Like so many other industries, the meat and poultry world has seen a shift in consumer behavior favoring sustainability and healthfulness, along with greater specialization of products. That requires smarter load carriers.

A growing demand

Meat and poultry consumers around the world are becoming more specific about their dietary needs. Organic. GMO-free. Antibiotic-free. They’re gravitating toward specialized, higher quality meats and meat alternatives. This of course requires a wider range of specialized pallet and container solutions.

A smart answer

We have extensive experience providing reliable, low-cost nestable export pallets and high- quality hygienic pallets. Cabka’s customers need both, and they know to come to us for specialized pallets and large containers that set the industry standard.

Products like our trackable, scannable RFID-chipped pallets increase efficiency exponentially. Our leading H1 hygienic pallet boasts strong resistance to hot and cold temperatures and is available with locator blocks, safety rims, and open or closed runners. The breadth of what we offer—including closed skids, repurchase of used pallets, and in-house recycling—have made us the go-to supplier for many in the industry.

And the industry isn’t just about meat and poultry anymore.

Consumers are moving toward more sustainable choices. The most agile and forward-thinking meat and poultry providers are evolving as well. They’re embracing the new diet-conscious staples appearing on shelves and tables around the world.

This shift toward sustainability extends beyond the food itself. This new, more responsible pivot must include ecologically minded materials, packaging, and equipment. Our Ecological Circularity means our range of customizable, durable, and hygienic pallets are responsible, recyclable, and returnable.

Proper pallet systems are crucial to remaining competitive. We have long been a leader in supplying pallets that are both sustainable and efficient to the Meat & Poultry industry.

Dairy

It’s no secret that dairy products play a vital role in healthy human diets. So it’s no surprise that the global dairy market is on track to reach $574.3 billion by 2027.

A fast-growing sector

It’s no secret that dairy products play a vital role in healthy human diets. So it’s no surprise that the global dairy market is on track to reach $574.3 billion by 2027.

Much of this increase has been led by demand in the Asia-Pacific region, with China accounting for the fastest growing dairy market, and milk accounting for the largest category in dairy sales. Thanks to affordability, an expansion in retail distribution, and increasing awareness around the digestive health benefits of fermented dairy products, this key industry is likely to become even larger.

With this rapid global growth comes a shift in consumer expectations. Sales of conventionally packaged milk have declined in the last five years—and this downward trend is expected to continue as increasingly health- and eco-conscious consumers look for companies that consider the environment in their day-to-day operations.

Increased reliability during product delivery

Industry leaders are responding by offering organic dairy products with higher nutritional value, creating more sustainable packaging, and reducing their carbon footprint in supply chain and transportation operations.

That’s where Cabka comes in. With our wide range of food-grade-certified plastic pallets, we can help improve efficiencies in dairy transport and production chains, thereby reducing cost, avoiding product waste, and lessening associated CO2 emissions.

Our Hygienic E7.3 and Hygienic i7.1 pallets are manufactured from food-grade virgin HDPE and feature sealed surfaces that prevent dirt from accumulating. Our Heilbronner H7 offers increased reliability during dairy - product delivery thanks to internal RFID responders, which allow for tracking product along transport routes - a necessity for foods with short shelf - lives. Our durable, 100% recyclable CabCubes reduce load carrier weight and protect packaging materials during transportation.

Once the pallets have completed their purpose, we recycle them into new load carriers. That’s one more step toward an environmentally friendly supply chain, and one less thing to worry about.

Sustainability and growth needn’t be mutually exclusive. We’ve found a way to unite them.

Applications of plastic pallets and containers in chemical industry

universe

Chemical

When an industry faces a lot of scrutiny, you must have reliable systems in place behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly. Load carriers specially designed for the chemical industry are critical.

Twin demands

In the chemical industry, the need for growth moves in parallel with the need to reduce carbon footprints and the need to advance the usage of recycled plastics, now more than ever.

Plastic pallets made from recycled plastics are an economic and environmental solution, but must be supplied on a grand scale. This requires a partner who can manufacture and deliver a wide range of pallet systems on par with global demand, especially in the rapidly expanding markets of India and Asia. Their products must adhere to worldwide standards and support sustainability efforts.

Specialized products for the chemical industry

Cabka has led the industry since we first began offering our cost-effective, environmentally friendly, durable, and circular pallets. Our Eco CP3, Eco CP7, Eco CP9 pallets were all developed specifically for the chemical industry. Highly shock absorbent, they are designed to minimize the risk of damage to their loads and work with all material handling equipment utilized in the chemical industry like roller and chain conveyors. The CP7 and CP9 have six broad runners to provide secure block stacking.

All are recyclable and available for purchase with an optional Buy Back Program. We specialize in the circularity that plays an increasingly vital role in companies’ sustainability strategies, even as the need for pallets grows.

No matter the need, we offer access that’s as customizable as our products. Our plastic pallets are built specifically for highly automated environments, with a focus on safety—that of workers around the world, and the world in which they live. We are trusted by companies everywhere to deliver reliability down to the very last pallet.

Plastic pallets and containers in the beverage industry

universe

Beverage

As consumers continue to prioritize premium and healthier beverages, the need to move a lot of products rapidly has never been more important. As automation becomes dominant, so too become load carriers designed to work in those environments.

Shifting consumer taste

Consumers around the world are looking for beverages that are kinder to their bodies and to the planet. More and more, consumers are gravitating toward functional-healthy, non-alcoholic, and super-premium alcoholic beverages. This includes beverages enjoyed at home, as well as within the enormous worldwide HORECA (hotel/restaurant/cafe) channel.

Product must move rapidly, at high volumes. So the industry has become highly automated in the western EU, most of the U.S. and Japan, with the rest of the world soon to follow.

A need for better design

As various industries’ needs for load carriers increased, plastic pallets had a clear advantage. The plastic pallets Cabka provides the beverage industry, for comparison, have a lifespan four times longer than heavy duty wooden pallets. Even so, our circularity repairs, services and recycles broken pallets and increases the lifespan of once-damaged materials.

Efficient distribution of beverages on a global scale often results in storage conditions that are not always ideal. They require the kind of highly diversified systems we have offered for decades, with products like our hygienic pallets, the Keg S9, Heineken Keg pallet, BPP i9, the Heilbronner H7 half-pallet, and the Endur range.

All of our products use plastic instead of wood because worker safety is both a challenge and a priority throughout the industry. We offer ergonomically designed pallets with features like anti- slip systems that are both good for the workforce and for the security of the products being handled. Additionally, the post-consumer and post-industrial materials we use are good for the environment (and the bottom line).

A recent study found that 88% of consumers are more loyal to companies that support sustainability. Our recyclable, waste-eliminating smart pallets are a customizable, reliable solution across this diversified industry.

Plastic pallets and containers in the automotive industry

universe

Automotive

For decades, metal stillage cages have been the go-to method of moving the many thousands of parts needed to build automobiles. It’s time to move into a better alternative.

One car, many pieces

The average passenger car has 30,000 parts. Better be careful transporting them.

Building automobiles is an enormously complex process. With the industry undergoing transformative change from internal-combustion engines to electric ones as well as autonomous driving, things aren’t getting less complex.

Manufacturers already rely on more than a dozen suppliers to produce cars, from critical engine parts (tier one) to computer chips (tier two) to raw materials like metal and plastic (tier three). Each tier has unique needs, such as electrostatic-discharge containers to protect tier two’s computer chips from damage during shipping.

Leaving the cage

This complex logistics loop requires careful planning, coordination, stock monitoring, and returnable packaging solutions compatible with production-facility systems. Luckily, those are Cabka’s specialty.

We tailor our products not only to the needs of the global auto industry, but also companies’ individual needs. We offer a wide range of transport solutions that are reusable, repairable, and recyclable. They are smartly designed to optimize logistics operations, speed up supply chains, reduce operational costs, and minimize transportation costs.

Our CabCube series is one example. We were inspired by metal stillage cages, the industry norm, to come up with a better product. The CabCube 3.0 weighs half as much as stillage cages, takes up 40% less space for empty returns, and saves 75% of floor space when collapsed. A sturdy lid and durable plastic construction keep contents safe. It’s easily cleaned, easily repaired, and easily monitored during shipping with track-and-trace technology. On top of that, it’s made with recycled materials that can be recycled again.

Stillage cages served the industry well for a long time. But just as cars have gotten more complex and economical over the decades, so have the transport options serving the automotive industry. The CabCube is a 21st century partner for a 21st century industry.

Applications of plastic pallets and containers in agriculture

universe

Agriculture

From the moment fruits or vegetables are picked, it’s a race against the clock. Companies only have so long to get them from the field to the store before spoilage begins. In the quest to reduce waste and costs, we can offer solutions.

Unique challenges

Agricultural logistics is a complex and high-stakes business. Pressure to deliver in a timely fashion and safeguard freshness is high.

After waste, the industry’s greatest challenge lies at the source. Fruit and vegetable harvesting is an expensive operation, which requires farmers to charge a high price. That expense is passed down to processors, packagers, distributors, and retailers.

Smart solutions

Cabka’s trackable pallets and large containers offer a customizable solution for reducing waste and increasing efficiency along the journey from farm to market. Eco-friendly plastic is far more durable in the field, as well as automated warehouses and cold-storage situations. Only plastic meets the high demands of new food-safety regulations, so the need for hygienic plastic pallets is soaring.

Our nestable plastic pallets, such as the Nest i1.1 and Nest E1.1, are significantly lighter than other pallets, making them ideal for air freight, and their durability is also unmatched. Their ergonomic design and ease of use make them a favorite among workers, too. Our Endur i7 is a semi-hygienic pallet geared toward high usage with an extra-rigid design perfect for use in racks.

In addition to the products themselves, we offer expert consults and technical support. We keep the freshness high and waste at a minimum, in an industry whose smooth operation benefits us all.
